Announced in 1972, the Model 158 was a medium-sized, high performance data processing system that incorporated monolithic main storage, virtual storage capability, integrated storage controls and a display console. Seen in this "white room" design model are the associated IBM 3850 Mass Storage System, 3525 Card Read Punch (foreground) with a 3505 Card Reader (behind it), 3158 Central Processing Unit (background center), 3211 Printer and 3811 Printer Control Unit, 3330 Disk Storage with 3333 Disk Storage and Control (right background), and four IBM 3420 Magnetic Tape Units (right foreground).
