If it is true that all roads lead to Rome, then for IBM in Italy that road began in Milan -- where the company's first office opened its doors in 1928 with just 11 employees.
From that modest beginning, the company grew and prospered over the years so that today it spans the Italian peninsula from the Alps to the Mediterranean, employs thousands of people, operates key manufacturing and product development facilities, manages IBM's operations in five other countries, and is leading Italy into the new era of e-business on demand.
To help celebrate more than 75 years of achievement in Italy, we're delighted to present highlights from IBM Italia's history along with a small sampling from our collection of hundreds of historical photographs of IBM people, facilities, activities and products in Italy.
