1991
  • The Pennant Systems Company is established by IBM in December to be responsible for the development and manufacture of IBM's worldwide impact and advanced function printers and related software, and for advanced printing services. At the time Pennant Systems is formed, IBM states its intention to make this organization a wholly-owned subsidiary, and positions it as a $2.3 billion business in a $30 billion industry. The company's headquarters are located in Norwalk, Conn., with development operations in Tucson, Ariz. (hardware and software), and Boulder, Colo. (software); and development and manufacturing operations in Endicott (hardware and software).
 
1992
  • The Endicott lab works on intermediate computer systems; high-end printers; banking products; printed circuit panels, boards and cards for other IBM plants; and software. The Endicott plant manufactures intermediate computer systems; high-end printers; banking products; and printed circuit panels, boards and cards.
 
1993
  • May 22 -- The IBM 3890 document processor celebrates its 20th birthday. The Shawmut Bank in Boston installed the first 3890 field test machine in 1973. Since then, more than 1,900 of the devices, manufactured at Endicott, had been purchased by banks in 22 countries for uses ranging from the conventional processing of billions of checks annually to the capture of images for proof-of-deposit, archive and image-statement functions. More than 90 percent of all 3890s are still in use in mid-1993.

  • June -- The site engages in developing printers, circuit packages and programming, and in manufacturing printers, circuit packages and bank systems.

  • IBM employs approximately 6,500 people on the site from Technology Products, Enterprise Systems, Workforce Solutions, the IBM Integrated Systems Solutions Corporation, and Skill Dynamics.

  • Thomas A. Ruane serves general manager.
 
1995
  • The IBM Printing Systems Company maintains operations in Endicott, as well as Boulder and Southbury, Conn.
 
2001
  • The IBM Band in Endicott plays its final notes.
 
2002
  • As part of IBM's strategic realignment of its Microelectronics business and to exit the manufacture and sale of certain products and component technologies, IBM signs an agreement in the second quarter of 2002 to sell its interconnect products operations in Endicott to Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EIT). IBM enters into a limited supply agreement with EIT for future products and leases back approximately one-third of the Endicott site for operations outside the interconnect OEM business.
 
2005
  • IBM Endicott operates as a diverse location for more than ten IBM organizations with over 1,600 employees on-site. The following groups have a major presence at IBM Endicott:
    • IBM Banks Manufacturing -- Manufactures and delivers the highest quality products to the banking industry.

    • IBM eServer Development -- Designs, develops, tests and releases the IBM eServer hardware system management subsystem and IBM zSeries distributed security and directory middleware.

    • IBM E&TS (Engineering & Technology Services) -- Brings together IBM expertise and capabilities in information technology engineering services and advanced technology, offering customers a wealth of engineering talent and access to IBM's vast intellectual property, including designs ranging from complex chips to entire systems.

    • IBM Global Asset Recovery -- Provides state-of-the-art reuse and recycling services, technology and information supporting IBM locations and customer accounts throughout the United States.

    • IBM Global General Procurement -- Acquires goods and services for internal and external customers to assure the most competitive supply chain cost.

    • IBM Global Services:
      • Global Delivery PE, IBM Accounts Payable and Asset Accounting -- Provides accounts payroll support for North America.
      • IBM Global e-procurement Systems and Strategies -- Develops and deploys procurement and accounts payable integrated solutions for internal procurement and accounts payable
      • IBM Global Services Procurement Operations Competency -- Provides a world class "requisition to check" e-procurement.

    • IBM Printing Systems Division -- Manufactures IBM printing systems which provide solutions that go beyond the printer page

    • IBM Real Estate Site Operations (RESO) -- Has responsibility for IBM's owned and leased real estate portfolio and for providing a safe, efficient and effective workplace.
