
Kaspar Cassani was the chairman and president of the
IBM World Trade Corporation.
The following is the text of a corporate biography
published in November 1988.

Kaspar V. Cassani joined IBM Switzerland in 1951,
and was transferred in 1967 to the headquarters of IBM
Europe in Paris, where shortly afterwards he became
director of marketing.
In 1970, he was assigned to IBM World Trade Headquarters
in the U.S. as director of product line. He returned
to IBM Europe in 1971.
Mr. Cassani was named chairman of IBM World Trade Europe/Middle
East/Africa Corporation in December 1981 and became
IBM senior vice president in May 1982. He became a member
of IBM's Management Committee and was named an executive
vice president of IBM and chairman of the board and
president of the IBM World Trade Corporation on March
31, 1987. In May 1987, he was elected a member of the
board of directors of IBM. In January 1988, he was named
vice chairman of the IBM board. He relinquished that
position in November 1988 in anticipation of his planned
retirement in mid-1989.
He is a board member of Ciba-Geigy AG, Basel, Switzerland
and the Zurich Insurance Group, Zurich, Switzerland,
and Air Products, Allentown, Pennsylvania. He serves
also on the Board of Trustees of IMEDE in Lausanne,
Switzerland.
