IBM System/360 Tape Reel

On April 7, 1964, IBM announced its most important product line to that date: the System/360, a new concept in IBM computers. System/360 encompassed small to large machines that incorporated IBM-designed Solid Logic technology microelectronics and used the same programming instructions. Its associated magnetic tape units used half-inch tape and a nine-track read/write head, and ran at between 28 and 112 inches per second.
