Napierian Cylinders

This calculating device consists of eight rotating cylinders after the fashion of John Napier's computing rods used for multiplication in the 17th century. It was built in France, circa 1880, and is part of the IBM Collection of historical calculating artifacts begun by Thomas J. Watson, Sr., in the 1930s.
