(IBM) Carroll Press

Fred M. Carroll's high-speed press, containing a printing cylinder, revolutionized the manufacture of punched tabulating cards in the 1920s. Early models of the Carroll press operated at a speed of 460 cards a minute. Later models, which were developed in IBM's Engineering Laboratory, performed the printing operation at 850 cards a minute.
