The IBM cost or job time recorder was a device for recording the time spent on various jobs or tasks. It printed the time of starting and completing a job, and the revolving dial set the card in the proper position for printing the record. The recorder could print records in hours and minutes or in tenths and hundreds of hours. It was equipped with an alphabetical or numerical symbol printing wheel designating either the day of the week or the date of the month. This is an engineering model of one of IBM's metal case, electric job time recorders with a dial spacing device.
