IBM 032 Alphabetical Printing Punch
 
During the first half-century of modern information processing, data were stored in cards by holes punched on the card. The IBM 032 Printing Punch of 1933 was the first machine to punch digits or alphabetic combinations, and print the corresponding letters across the top margin of the card.
