Around 1900, when scientists started to use calculating machines to aid them in their long calculations, the Brunsviga machines proved very popular because of their price, durability and portability. The Midget Brunsviga Multiplying and Dividing Machine weighed less than 10 pounds and could fit on a crowded desk.
