Offering description
About IBM p4 to p5 Exchange:
- Available to clients who currently own or lease an IBM System p model p670 or p690
- Special program offers them market value credit on p670/690 when acquiring System p model p590 or p595
- Applies to system purchase or lease through IBM Global Financing
If you have a client who currently owns or leases an IBM System p model 670 or 690, chances are they love the idea of upgrading to a new p5 system. Unfortunately, there is no MES upgrade path available from p4 to p5, so clients wanting to migrate have to replace their current servers altogether. And if they have significant net book value or remaining lease obligation, that could be making the decision to jump to p5 even harder.
If so, then the IBM p4 to p5 Exchange (PEX) is a great opportunity for them to migrate to an IBM System p590 or p595. PEX minimizes the financial impact of migrating from p4 to p5 technology by letting them apply their current system's fair market value to the p5 server. PEX also simplifies the process with up to 60 days to perform side-by-side installation and testing. With PEX clients will install a p590 or p595 that will be manufactured and tested with refurbished I/O draws.
There are big benefits for you, too! First, you have a new opportunity to engage clients who didn't think they could afford the migration. Second, you get revenue credit for the fair market value of the p4 plus the price of the p5 system. Third, you limit your competitive exposure and need for discounting. And since it reduces the supply of used p4 systems on the market, it's a great way to increase System p financing volumes.
How the IBM p4 to p5 Exchange works
If the client is currently leasing their IBM System p model 670 or 690, IBM Global Financing will reduce their remaining lease payments by the server's current fair market value and assume possession of the system.
If the client currently owns their IBM System p model 670 or 690, IBM Global Financing will assume ownership of the server at fair market value, and apply that value toward the purchase or lease of the new System p590/595 server.
The p5 system can be installed alongside the existing p4 at the client's facility for up to 60 days of changeover and testing, but the p5 system will still come with the standard 12-month warranty. At the end of the changeover, the retired p4 system is returned to IBM Global Financing.
