If you have a client who currently owns or leases an IBM System i870, i890, i550, i570 or i595 through IBM Global Financing, chances are they would love the idea of upgrading to a new POWER5+ or POWER6 platform. Unfortunately, they may have significant remaining lease obligations that make it a financial challenge to migrate.
If so, then "iExchange" provides a great opportunity to migrate to POWER5+ or POWER6 technology. Under the "iExchange" program, clients can migrate their current platforms provided that a valid upgrade path exists.
"iExchange" minimizes early migration costs such as lease termination charges and offers a side-by-side migration period that covers installation and testing. Finally, "iExchange" provides a warranty on the server equivalent to new.
There are big benefits for you, too! First, you have a new opportunity to engage clients who didn't think they could afford the migration. Second, you can offer the customer more flexibility in POWER5+ or POWER6 processor technology. Third, you limit your competitive exposure and need for discounting.
Sold Through the Brand
- IBM Business Partners can now sell a complete "iExchange" POWER 5+ or POWER6 server vs an MES upgrade. The server is sold through the brand and includes the brand warranty.

Available exclusively to clients that currently own or lease a System i870, i890, i550 or i570 through IBM Global Financing and want to upgrade to an IBM System i POWER5+ or POWER6 platform.

Process specifications:
If the client leases the "iExchange" System i POWER5+ or POWER6 platform, their "iExchange" monthly payments will be lower than payments on a net new box. If the client purchases the "iExchange" System i POWER5+ or POWER6 platform, they will pay a reduced termination charge on the existing lease.
The System i POWER5+ or POWER6 platform can be installed alongside the existing system at the client's facility to cover any migration and/or testing period and will include a warranty equivalent to new. At the end of the changeover, the retired system is returned to IBM Global Financing.
