Resume tips

IBM utilizes a computerized resume tracking system to process and track resumes submitted by candidates. If you elect to provide a plain text (ASCII) version of your resume, it will be of mutual benefit if you follow the format provided in the example. The system will extract the required information from your resume. Please do not add attachments such as graphics or word processor documents. Below are some helpful hints on how to format your resume.

Hints
  1. Use a single column format.
  2. Use standardized typefaces.
  3. Use at a minimum a 10 point font.
  4. Do not paste graphics.
  5. Do not provide attachments
  6. Avoid using special characters.
  7. Use key, concrete words to define your qualifications.

Creating a resume

To create an ASCII text resume, all you need to do is type your resume using your favorite word-processing application, and then save it as a text-only document (sometimes also called Rich Text Format or RTF). This should be an option in your "save" or "save as" command. You can also use a simple text program to compose your resume.
