Interview tips

Your college or university campus can provide an ideal place to explore career opportunities at IBM. We use a combination of career fairs, information days and sessions, and campus placement preselection to build our interview schedules.

How to get an interview

Are you a graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other technical degree program? Let's talk! We also look for candidates from disciplines such as Math, Finance, Business and Marketing.

IBM's diversity recruitment program, Project View, offers Latino/Hispanic, African American, people with disabilities and Native American students an opportunity to explore IBM career options.

Project Able, also an IBM diversity recruitment program, focuses on recruiting people with disabilities for career opportunities nationwide.

If you'd like to meet with us face-to-face to discuss career opportunities, check out our campus calendar for an event we are planning. Check with your campus placement office for more details. We look forward to meeting with you!

Preparing for the interview

IBM managers interviewing on campus submit their interview forms and documents electronically. Why paperless? Primarily so that we can respond faster to you! After your interview is scheduled, e-mail your resume to the interviewing manager. Plain text (.txt - ASCII) is the preferred format. If you have questions about the format your resume should follow, view our resume tips.

We will usually have a copy of your resume but, just in case, bring one with you. A copy of your transcript can also be helpful.

Prepare questions you might want to ask the interviewing manager.

Business casual is typical for most of our on-campus interviews. However, you should check with your campus placement office to review interview attire guidelines for your school.

Check with your campus placement office if you have any questions. They're an excellent resource.
