Pay and benefits

Cash compensation

Cash compensation opportunities include base pay, profit sharing, commissions, and awards. When our business performance exceeds expectations and your high-level work contributes to that performance, you'll have an earnings opportunity that places you among the best-paid employees in the marketplace.

Growth-driven profit sharing

To support IBM's focus on profitable growth, the company has introduced the Growth-Driven Profit Sharing program, which is designed to return a portion of revenue and pre-tax profit growth back to the IBMers who helped drive that growth.

Profit-sharing payout per employee will be determined based on annual performance ratings.

Healthcare benefits

You can customize your benefits coverage every year to best fit the needs of yourself or your family. IBM benefits coverage can include your spouse or same-sex domestic partner and eligible dependents.

Medical, dental and vision benefits

Time off and flexible scheduling

All employees with less than 10 years of service earn 15 days of vacation per year. Those with 10 years of service or more earn 20 days of vacation per year.

IBM also offers 12 holidays per year, with six observed nationally. The other six vary according to operational requirements, and include at least one personal-choice holiday.

Paid parental bonding leave

IBM's paid parental bonding leave helps you bond in the important weeks after you bring your child home. Birth mothers receive six weeks paid time off for bonding, in addition to paid maternity leave. New fathers or adoptive parents (including domestic partner parents of a newborn or newly adopted child) also are eligible for six weeks of paid parental bonding leave. Time off, available to all regular employees, is flexible and can be intermittent.

Adoption and surrogacy assistance plan

Through the Adoption and Surrogacy Assistance Plan, IBM provides some financial assistance toward expenses incurred in the adoption of minor children (including surrogate arrangements). IBM pays 100% of eligible expenses related to adoption (including surrogate arrangements), up to $5,000 per family for each adoption (with no limit on the number of adoptions).

Income protection

IBM wants to ensure that you and your family will be protected should you experience a life-changing event. In order to achieve this goal, we offer:

Student Loan Refinancing for Professionals (SoFi)

SoFi refinancing loans allow you to combine existing private and federal student loans into one loan, with one monthly payment at lower rates. One lender. One bill. One monthly payment. SoFi refinancing is available to IBM spouses or domestic partners, children, grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.
