Equal opportunity in the U.S.

A 50-year commitment that has stood the test of time...and audits

IBM has successfully responded to letters of compliance for more than 670 government audits — and has never failed one.

SealWhen the U.S. Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs issued its directive for Functional Affirmative Action Programs, permitting compliance by lines of business, IBM received and finalized a compliance agreement.

With employees in 75 of the 164 countries where we do business, IBM works with regulatory, governmental and non-governmental agencies to assure full compliance with legal, moral and strategic imperatives of equal opportunity. The IBM Global Equal Opportunity Project Office assists in assuring full compliance with both the letter and spirit of law wherever IBM does business.

EO Programs Recognized as Best Practices by NILG

IBM was recently recognized with two "best practices" awards from the National Industry Liaison Group and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program. IBM was the only company to receive two awards.

IBM's EO Resources on Demand, which includes program offerings, web resources and teamrooms, was cited as a best practice in the area of equal employment opportunity and Project View, an IBM program to recruit miniorities and underrepresented groups, was named as a best practice in the area of affirmative action college recruiting. Both IBM programs will be showcased by the organizations to educate and mentor federal contractors.

Accepting the award at the 21st Annual Industry Liaison Group National Conference on behalf of IBM was Drew Valentine, director, global equal opportunity. "We are pleased to accept these prestigious awards that underline our firm belief and commitment to equal opportunity in the workplace," says Drew. "And we're proud that our programs have been recognized as a model for others."
