Client Representative

Position description:

Leads the strategy and development of the overall account plan and has primary responsibility for identifying opportunities and developing client-valued solutions involving multiple IBM products; understands the client's organization and culture; develops and executes a relationship plan to address both IT and line-of-business organizations, leveraging other IBM subject matter experts, executives, and thought-leaders, as needed, to provide value to the client; maintains a thorough understanding of the client's industry, including trends, financial measurements and performance indicators, business processes, and key client competitors; and provides a single point of contact to all of IBM's sales and technical resources for one or more IBM clients.

Personal characteristics required:

  • Passion for consultative sales and working directly with clients

Client Sales Specialist

Position description:

The Client Sales Specialist is part of a team that leads the strategy and development of the overall account plan and identifies and develops client-valued solutions involving multiple IBM products; understands the client's organization and culture; develops and executes a relationship plan to address both IT and line-of-business organizations, leveraging other IBM subject matter experts, executives, and thought-leaders, as needed, to provide value to the client; maintains a thorough understanding of the client's industry, including trends, financial measurements and performance indicators, business processes, and key client competitors. Teaming with the Client Representative, the Client Sales Representative provides a single point of contact to all of IBM's sales and technical resources for one or more IBM clients.

Cloud Sales Specialist

Position description:

The Cloud Sales Specialist is responsible for selling industry-specific cloud solutions that address client's business needs and integrate IBM's cloud capabilities in a way that is valued by the customer and superior to the competition. This position ensures client satisfaction with IBM solutions; maintains relationships with IT and LOB executives in assigned accounts; understands the client's business, including its organization, financials, competitiveness in the market, and business issues; and identifies and qualifies prospective clients.

  • Strong business, financial, negotiation, and technical skills
  • Skills to empathize with business professionals and develop relationships at all levels of client management, especially C-level executives

Digital Sales Representative

Position description:

The Digital Sales Representative is part of IBM's Business Development team. The mission of the Business Development team is to capitalize on the unique expertise of IBM Digital Sales by aggressively embracing social selling tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and traditional telephone and web resources (chat, video and mobile tools). The objectives are to drive quality pipeline opportunities and to connect with Business-to-Business (B2B) prospects, determining the level of interest in IBM offerings and developing validated leads in response to marketing initiatives.

  • Demonstrated business aptitude, negotiation, and technical skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

Duration of training:

  • 6 months
  • Up to 50% during the week


Information Technology Architect

Position description:

Defines solutions and architectures to address client business requirements and technical needs. Works in levels of abstraction, applying industry knowledge and leveraging appropriate IBM methodology and knowledge of software and server systems. Leads the development, testing, and presentation of client solutions that may involve various software and systems technologies, services, architectural styles, and domains. Leverages technical expertise to assist sales counterparts in maintaining client satisfaction and attaining revenue. Works in Dallas, TX, for the first nine months and then is relocated to a permanent work location in a major U.S. city to consult with clients of all sizes, following the training period. Upon receiving territory assignment, the new hire must be willing to travel up to 25%.

  • Up to 12 months


Information Technology Specialist

Position description:

Establishes relationships with clients and assists Client Representatives and Solution Specialists in developing IBM client solutions. Has responsibility for the technical elements of a solution's design, content, construction, and integration into the client's environment. Provides valued IBM solutions by responding to the client's business requirements through innovative integration of hardware, software, and services. Articulates and demonstrates the benefits of IBM products, solutions and/or services based on the client's technical environment and needs. Responsible for maintaining client satisfaction and providing technical expertise in a particular IBM software or hardware product line.

Solution Sales Specialist

Position description:

Manages relationships with clients, and provides value to them by specializing in IBM technology solutions that solve their business problems. Solution Specialists are assigned to specific opportunities/territories and are responsible for closing sales and maximizing customer satisfaction. Solution Specialists provide leadership and set the overall strategy for their particular solution and product line(s), while supporting the strategies of the Client Representative, and coordinating other technical resources for successful solution sales efforts and implementation projects.

  • Strong business, negotiation, and technical skills
  • Skills to empathize with business professionals and develop relationships at all levels of client management, especially C-level executives

  • 9 or 12 months depending on assigned product(s)

Client Representative Intern


Position description:

Works directly with Client Representatives and the extended sales team to grow IBM's client relationships, contribute to sales, and identify opportunities. Actively participates in sales operations such as developing account plans, researching and prospecting new clients, and participating in client meetings and events. All intern applicants must be registered, full-time students.

Digital Sales Representative Intern


Position description:

The Digital Sales team represents IBM's digital go-to-market strategy and recognizes the increasingly digital way IBM interacts with and engages clients. As technology consumption patterns evolve, this team is positioned to play a key role in IBM's continuing digital transformation, ready to partner with IBM stakeholders to sell new offerings to new buyers in new ways.

The Summit Intern Program is seeking high performing undergraduate students, with a passion for sales and technology, for Summer 2016 Digital Sales Representative internships. The positions are located in major cities across the US.

The IBM Digital Sales Representative delivers software or hardware systems brand solutions to clients of all sizes across various industries. During the internship, Digital Sales Representative Interns will work directly with either software or hardware systems Digital Sales Representatives to assist with sales opportunities and contribute to the day-to-day sales operations of the team. They will gain an understanding of IBM sales practices and knowledge about IBM's software and systems products to develop business solutions for clients. Digital Sales Representative Interns will have the opportunity to network throughout all levels of the robust IBM organization, which will enable them to develop an effective and extensive set of contacts, and gain insights on future opportunities within IBM.

Personal and Professional Characteristics Required

The Digital Sales Representative Intern applicant should:

Position description:

Works directly with IBM technical sales teams to assist with the technical aspects of sales opportunities at both client sites and IBM technical sales centers. Gains knowledge about IBM's software and hardware products and grows hands-on technical experience through activities such as installing IBM products, preparing technical documentation, participating in client briefings or demos, and developing and delivering technical client presentations. All intern applicants must be registered, full-time students.

  • Abilities to empathize with business professionals and develop relationships at all levels of client management
  • Ability to learn technical and complex topics
  • Experience in sales or customer activity preferred
