What are the main responsibilities of your current IBM position?

I am responsible for sales, marketing and education for risk management solutions within the BAO organization. BAO risk management solutions provide clients with insight into compliance across multiple industries including Healthcare, Government and Insurance.

Why did you choose to work at IBM over other companies?

I am a second generation IBMer. While I originally decided to work for a smaller company once I graduated from college, IBM provided a stronger career development path, better training opportunities and the team work environment that I enjoy.

Anything you learned about IBM that you didn't know before working here?

IBM encourages individuals to pursue their career aspirations, and then provides opportunities and training that helps them reach their goals.

What are the main responsibilities of your current IBM position?

I am an IBM architect for one of the world's largest banks. We have created a finance transformation platform that provides the client with the ability to complete their entire accounting cycle on a daily basis. The end- to-end reporting solution allows the client to do their financial control reporting as well as detailed analysis of their customer and product data. The scale of the project requires us to use some very specialized high performance techniques to ensure that large amounts of data can be analyzed in a matter of hours. Before our solution, it took the bank weeks, and in some cases months, to get the results that we’re producing today.

Why did you choose to work at IBM over other companies?

When I graduated from business school I was looking for an opportunity where I could put my technical and business skills to use. PwC [PricewaterhouseCoopers] was the company I joined out of school, and I became part of IBM once PwC's management consulting practice was acquired by the company. One of the reasons I joined, and have remained in the company for almost eight years, is the people. My team is an exceptional group. I learn from them on a daily basis, and together we produce some amazing results.

Anything you learned about IBM that you didn't know before working here?

IBM has deep technology skills, especially in the field of optimization and predictive analysis. I am also impressed on a day-to-day basis with the company’s truly global reach. IBM’s strategy of investing in emerging markets in a very serious way has really paid off, especially given the current economic environment.

What are the main responsibilities of your current IBM position?

I am a managing consultant specializing in business intelligence within the BAO practice. My current role is Test Manager on a Solvency 2 project. I am also a hiring manager within the Dutch BAO practice.

Why did you choose to work at IBM over other companies?

I like the company’s culture. I started with IBM in Global Technology Services, and am now working within Global Business Services. IBM offers so many opportunities for learning and professional self-development. There are so many ways that you can connect with old and new colleagues, for example, be a mentor or learn as a mentee. Such social networks are highly useful within the company, and fun.

Anything you learned about IBM that you didn't know before working here?

There was a lot that I did not know about IBM before I worked here. For example, IBM is socially active and supports volunteer work.
