When do you recruit for the student programs?

IBM Canada Ltd. recruits for student positions throughout the year at universities and colleges across Canada. IBM Canada Ltd. has designed three work terms for co-op students, with start dates in January, May and September. Each term lasts four months. Recruitment for these positions begins three to four months before the start of each term. (For example, recruitment for fall co-op positions begins in early May.) For summer positions, IBM Canada Ltd. recruits during the spring months. Recruitment for internship positions starts in October or November of the preceding year and continues until March of the year in which the internship commences.


Where are the student job opportunities located?

Positions are available in most major cities across Canada. Check individual job postings for specific information.


If I am selected for an interview, what kind of interview will I receive?

IBM Canada Ltd. uses an interview style that is behaviorally based. This means that we will be asking you questions about previous experiences you have had in terms of competencies and technical skills. Your interview will be 30 to 60 minutes in length and will be conducted by an IBM Canada Ltd. employee or manager.

What kind of training does IBM Canada Ltd. provide to its students?

New students hired attend a one-day orientation program and can expect to have a series of work assignments during the early stage of their career to facilitate continued development.


Should I include my transcripts?

Yes, please attach either a copy of your most recent transcript (does not need to be official) or some indication of your marks.


Should I include a cover letter?

Yes! Your cover letter is your prime chance to differentiate yourself!


Who do I address my cover letter to?

Please address your letter either to "Sir/Madam" or "To Whom It May Concern".
