The purpose of Certification Test 863: IBM System i IT Simplification: Linux Technical V5R4 is to help validate the detailed understanding and skill required to effectively design, setup the system, install Linux, and implement infrastructure solutions involving Linux on POWER on System i.
This test complements other certification exams in the System i test portfolio, specifically covering Linux on System i in more depth and breadth than that covered in the Technical Design, Technical Implementation, System Administration tests. This test also complements the IT Simplification Sales exam which includes Linux on System i from a Sales perspective.
Certification Test 863 covers a broad technical implementation perspective: - Content includes pre- and post-sales technical implementation content, with the primary focus on post-sales.
- The emphasis is on V5R4 and POWER5, encompassing the entire System i product line (Entry level to High end).
- The test includes a targeted subset of LPAR within this exam, which is independent of the contents of Test 365: LPAR Technical.
- The test is job role- and experience-based. Therefore, the test taker is not required to have first completed the supporting technical education prior to attempting the test. Completion of the supporting technical education prior to attempting the test does not guarantee successful passing of the test.
