- Design and size a solution using IBM products in terms of capacity, performance, and functions.
- Help plan for local/distance connectivity.
- Help plan for disk system logical and physical layout.
- Plan and discuss backup and disaster recovery options.
- Compare and contrast IBM storage technologies and product offerings.
A candidate should be able to perform the following WITH assistance: - Gather details and data for problem determination
- Implement and troubleshoot disaster recovery solutions,
- Compare and contrast competitive positions
- Work with distance solutions within an entry & midrange Linux, UNIX, or Windows (Distributed) systems environment.
A candidate should be comfortable with SSCT and other configuration tools; Capacity Magic and Disk Magic for sizing disk capacity and performance expectations; PartnerWorld (including competitive tools); and the DS3000 and DS4000 Storage Manager.
A candidate is not expected to have a mainframe (MVS, z/OS) operating system background or support I, N, and Z Series operating environments.
