Overview Objectives alt="" height="1" width="30" Test Preparation

If you are knowledgeable of IBM's Business Intelligence solutions and the fundamental concepts of relational and multidimensional database technologies, and are capable of performing the intermediate and advanced skills required to design, develop and support custom analytical applications, you may benefit from this certification.

Section 1 - Architecture (10%)

  1. Identify the application servers (i.e. Websphere, Websphere portal) database architecture (i.e. relational, multi-dimensional), hardware operating system (i.e. Windows, Unix, Linux) and application architecture (i.e. Model View Control (MVC)
  2. Determine hardware sizing
  3. Create a database and application security model
  4. Define users and their roles

Section 2 - Installation (18%)

  1. Install Alphablox under the various server applications
  2. Configure security for the Alphablox application
  3. Create and test Alphablox data sources for relational and multidimensional databases
  4. Configure JDBC Drivers and MDB adapters
  5. Configure Application Server JVM settings
  6. Install Alphablox under the WebSphere Portal
  7. Configure Alphablox repository (database vs. filebased)
  8. Install Alphablox in a cluster
  9. Define web terms (i.e., .war file, .ear file, web.xml file, etc.)
  10. Configure Alphablox to work with RDBMS connection pools

Section 3 - Development (34%)

  1. Configure RAD or WSAD development environment for Alphablox
  2. Code an Alphablox application in the development environment using JSP, servlets, Java Script, and HTML
  3. Use the blox for presentation of grids and charts
  4. Use the FormBlox for application controls
  5. Use the RelationalBlox for relational reporting
  6. Use the UI Model for advanced customization manipulation
  7. Use the Infrastructure Blox (AdminBlox) for internal application management
  8. Debug application and performance issues
  9. Structure an application
  10. Use the client’s API in an application
  11. Define JSP Terms (JSP, tag library, scriptlets, etc.)
  12. Define steps to putting a blox on a page
  13. Define steps to putting a blox in a portlet
  14. Adding additional menu items to a blox
  15. Creating themes (alphablox and portal
  16. Identify data schema prerequisites for the cubing engine (i.e., understanding the star schema requirements)
  17. Determine cube capacity
  18. Configure a database for cube performance

Section 4 - Integration (5%)

  1. Configure single sign on with Alphablox from LDAP or other third party security providers
  2. Configure Alphablox applications to run within WebSphere Portal
  3. Configure Alphablox with other supported application servers

Section 5 - Create Alphablox Cubes (23%)

  1. Import cube views metadata
  2. Define Alphablox Cubes using the Alphablox Cubing UI
  3. Define tuning queries and refresh cycles
  4. Define the sorting of members
  5. Use MDX to query cubes

Section 6 - Test and Deployment (10%)

  1. Deploy the EAR file to the application server
  2. Use web testing technologies to verify the Alphablox applications’ performance
  3. Set up and distinguish between test production servers
  4. Perform and manager source control
  5. Backup Alphablox repository
