Test 700: DB2 V8.1 Family Fundamentals

This Database Associate is an entry level DBA or a user of any of the DB2 family of products. This individual is knowledgeable about the fundamental concepts of DB2 Universal Database V8 through either hands on experience or formal and informal education. The database associate should have an in-depth knowledge of the basic to intermediate tasks required in day-to-day administration, basic SQL (Structured Query Language), understand how DB2 Universal Database V8.1 is packaged and installed, understand how to create databases and database objects, and have a basic knowledge of database security and transaction isolation. 

Section 1 - Planning (15%)

  1. Knowledge of DB2 UDB products (client, server, etc.)
  2. Knowledge of the features in DB2 tools such as: DB2 Extenders, Configuration Assistant, Visual Explain, Command Center, Control Center, Relational Connect, Replication Center, Development Center, and Health Center
  3. Knowledge of Datawarehouse and OLAP concepts
  4. Knowledge of non-relational data concepts (extenders, etc)

Section 2 - Security (9%)

  1. Knowledge of restricting data access
  2. Knowledge of different privileges

Section 3 - Accessing DB2 UDB Data (15%)

  1. Ability to identify and locate DB2 UDB servers
  2. Ability to access and manipulate DB2 UDB objects
  3. Ability to create basic DB2 UDB objects

Section 4 - Working with DB2 UDB Data (31%)

  1. Knowledge of transactions
  2. Given a DDL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results
  3. Given a DML SQL statement, knowledge to identify results
  4. Given a DCL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results
  5. Ability to use SQL to SELECT data from tables
  6. Ability to use SQL to SORT or GROUP data
  7. Ability to use SQL to UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT data
  8. Ability to call a procedure

Section 5 - Working with DB2 UDB Objects (19%)

  1. Ability to demonstrate usage of DB2 UDB data types
  2. Given a situation, ability to create table
  3. Knowledge to identify when referential integrity should be used
  4. Knowledge to identify methods of data constraint
  5. Knowledge to identify characteristics of a table, view or index

Section 6 - Data Concurrency (11%)

  1. Knowledge to identify factors that influence locking
  2. Ability to list objects on which locks can be obtained
  3. Knowledge to identify characteristics of DB2 UDB locks
  4. Given a situation, knowledge to identify the isolation levels that should be used
