Section 1:Planning

With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Tivoli Storage Manager) database space requirements, disk space requirements as well as minimum memory requirements for Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3, based on the old Tivoli Storage Manager system.
- Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3 database space requires 33 - 50% more than the space that is used by the V5 database.
- Determine whether the upgrade is from V5.x or V6.x. If an upgrade from V5.x, use appropriate tools after installation.
- Plan the upgrade of the Tivoli Storage Manager server.
- Choose the method of upgrade.
- Ensure that enough storage space exists with the chosen upgrade method.
- Determine the location of the database and logs.
- Plan to install new Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3 server, check and prepare the OS requirements and space requirements according to customer requirements.

- Determine network connectivity and protocols available.
- Locate running applications on hardware to be used with Tivoli Storage Manager.
- Given access to documentation that comes with the software and is available online, locate installation notes, readme documents, product manuals, support flashes, and hardware manuals so that the location of required documents for installation planning and deployment has been identified.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Locate installation guides from the IBM Website.
- Access installation notes and readme documents.
- Review support flashes on the IBM Website.
- Locate hardware documentation.
- Given a qualified, feasible customer SLA, and business and legal data retention requirements, apply these agreements to the policy recommendations so that a qualified, validated data retention plan for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Tivoli Storage Manager) is produced.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine feasibility of customer's SLA request with current version of Tivoli Storage Manager.
- Apply business and legal data retention requirements to policy retention requirements.
- Review policy retention recommendations.
- Differentiate between backup and archive in the storage management plan design.
- Produce a storage management plan.
- Given customer requirements, knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager, and knowledge of DB2 vocabulary, identify features to best address customer requirements so that an appropriate Tivoli Storage Manager solution is designed.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Identify Tivoli Storage Manager server features which meet customer requirements.

- Recommend appropriate Tivoli Storage Manager server and client features.
- Given the customer's business and policy criteria, evaluate the infrastructure and SLAs so that Tivoli Storage Manager backup requirements for individual client application data can be protected.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine customer's available hardware.
- Determine customer's application requirements.
- Identify total amount of data to be protected.
- Identify type of data to be protected.
- Determine network connectivity and protocols available.

Section 2:Installation
- Given a correctly set up system and network which meet the requirements, and access to the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Tivoli Storage Manager) code, determine whether the installation is an upgrade and follow the documented installation steps for any supported operating system so that the Tivoli Storage Manager server is installed on the system.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine whether the upgrade is from V5.x or V6.x. If an upgrade from V5.x, use appropriate tools after installation.
- Read appropriate documentation on the IBM Tivoli support Website.
- Plan the upgrade of the Tivoli Storage Manager server.
- Prepare the old Tivoli Storage Manager server.
- Given access to documentation, hardware, and software and knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager, review the instructions, configure hardware layout, and install Tivoli Storage Manager server and Backup-Archive client so that Tivoli Storage Manager server and Backup-Archive client are installed on a system that is not connected to other Tivoli Storage Manager systems.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Review the instructions in the Installation Guide.
- Plan the disk layout.
- Configure the system.
- Install the Tivoli Storage Manager server.
- Install the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client.
- Given that the environment requirements are met and the Tivoli Storage Manager server is correctly installed, perform the installation or upgrade steps so that the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client is properly installed.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Install or upgrade the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client from the appropriate media (CD, download, or server).
- Determine which client options are appropriate
- Configure client nodes.

- Determine if this is a new installation or an upgrade.
- Read appropriate documentation and Support Flashes on the IBM Tivoli support Web site.
- Identify location of the most current Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager code, patches, and fixes.
- Plan the upgrade of the monitoring server
- Choose the method of upgrade.
- Ensure that enough storage space exists for the chosen installation method.
- Perform prerequisite check.
- Download appropriate package.
- Run prereqcheck.exe.
- Select language.
- Accept welcome and disclaimer panels.
- If checks pass start installation or correct any issues before continuing installation.
- Install Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager.
- Confirm access privileges, including IDs and passwords.
- Ensure all system requirements are met.
- Start installation wizard.
- Follow instructions to completion.
- Install Admin Center and Tivoli Common Reporting.
- Create and configure agent instance.
- Install and start the Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager agent.-Click Start > All Programs > IBM Tivoli Monitoring > Manage Tivoli Monitoring Services.-In the Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services - TEMS Mode window, double-click Monitoring Agent for Tivoli Storage Manager template. -In the Input window, specify the instance name and click OK. For example, inst1.-In the Agent Configuration window, complete the following fields for the Tivoli Storage Manager server to be monitored:-In the Server Address field, enter the server address for the Tivoli Storage Manager server.-In the Port Number field, enter the port number that is used to communicate with the Tivoli Storage Manager server.-In the TSM Administrator field, enter the Tivoli Storage Manager enter the Tivoli Storage Manager Admin ID. -In the TSM Administrator Password field, enter the password, twice for the Tivoli Storage Manager Admin ID.-Click OK to save the settings.-If the agent was installed separately on to an existing IBM Tivoli Monitoring server, you might need to stop and restart the Tivoli Enterprise Portal server to allow it to pick up and apply the new agent configuration settings.-The Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services page displays the new Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager agent instance.-To start the Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager agent instance, in the Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services window, right-click to select the agent instance in the list, and select Start.
- Perform any verification tasks to check correct functionality of Monitoring such as checking the Agent.log.
- Given the software requirements a system must meet before the Tivoli Storage Manager Tivoli Integrated Portal (TIP), follow the installation and configuration steps so that the TIP is installed and configured.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Perform installation of Tivoli Storage Manager Administration Center following the GUI wizard, console wizard or silent mode installation procedures.
- Verify the installation by opening a Web browser to access the Web address and port of the Administration Center.
- Configure automatic startup of the Administration Center (if required).
- Confirm that the TIP server is running.
- Define Administration Center users to the TIP.
- Define the Tivoli Storage Manager servers to the Administration Center.
- Given the software requirements a system must meet before the Tivoli Storage Manager Tivoli Integrated Portal , install the Tivoli Storage Manager Maintenance upgrades or patches on a system by using the wizard.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Verify the fixes applied in the upgradable maintenance and patch levels.
- Determine the fix history, updates, limitations ,and known problems of each maintenance and patch level.
- Given that the environment requirements are met and the Tivoli Storage Manager server is correctly installed and operating, install and configure the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client in a clustered node environment so that a working Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client in a clustered environment is available.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Install the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client from the appropriate media (CD or downloaded) onto each local node in the cluster. Ensure the application files are stored in the same location on each cluster node.
- Register a Tivoli Storage Manager node on the Tivoli Storage Manager server specifically for the cluster node.
- Define a client options file on the cluster shared disk resources with the following options where appropriate.
- ServerName
- TCPPORT
- COMMETHOD
- Clusternode yes on each cluster node
- Nodename
- Domain
- Password access generate
- errorlogname **use shared disk resources**
- schedlogname **use shared disk resources**
- Verify each cluster node Backup-Archive client is working by using the appropriate shared resource options file.
- Given that the environment requirements are met and the Tivoli Storage Manager server is correctly installed and operating, install and configure journal-based backup (JBB), Administrative Client Command Line, Tivoli Storage Manager client options such as: encryption, Image backup/Logical Volume Snapshot Agent (LVSA), Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Perform custom installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-archive client from the appropriate media (CD or electronic image).
- Install the JBB.
- Customize the JBB if needed.
- Install Logical Volume Snapshot Agent, if needed.
- Customize LVSA or VSS if needed.
- Install the Administrative Client Command Line
- Install the Web client.
- Customize the Web client if needed
- Install the Tivoli Storage Manager Scheduler.
- Install the Tivoli Storage Manager Client Accepter Daemon.
- Customize the Tivoli Storage Manager Scheduler.
- Initialize and start services on the appropriate platform.
Section 3:Configuration and Customization
- Given a correctly set up system which meets the hardware requirements of the configuration of existing file system or disks, ensure hardware is available for optimal installation of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Tivoli Storage Manager) database and logs so that hardware designated for the Tivoli Storage Manager server database and logs are ready to have database and logs installed and configured.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Verify disk and volume or directory space requirements are set up correctly.
- Verify the database and recovery log directories on separate physical volumes or file systems.
- Use 4 - 8 directories for database space and spread them across as many physical devices or LUNs as there are directories.
- Place the database and the logs on fast, reliable storage, with high availability characteristics.
- Given a correctly set up system which meets the hardware requirements of the configuration of existing file system or disks, prepare hardware and devices for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Create the user for the DB2 instance.
- Create the instance home directory for DB2 and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server.
- Create file systems and directories for database, active-log and archive-log.
- Set Write permissions for the appropriate directories and file systems.
- Install and configure the DB2 API when performing a manual Tivoli Storage Manager installation.
- Given that the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Tivoli Storage Manager) server is installed, modify the dsmserv.opt file and issue server option commands so that server options are set appropriately.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Configure options in dsmserv.opt that are appropriate to a customer's environment.
- Configure options by using server commands that are appropriate to a customer's environment.
- Given a correctly set up system and network which meet the requirements, and access to the Tivoli Storage Manager code, determine whether the installation is an upgrade and follow the documented installation steps for any supported operating system so that the Tivoli Storage Manager server is installed on the system.

- In a Windows environment do the following use Windows Pass thru Device.
- Find the driver for the device from Microsoft and then load the native driver for the device.
- If a native driver is not available from Microsoft, visit the hardware vendor Website to download the native driver. Then load native driver for device from this download.
- If the native driver is not available from the vendor, then use the Tivoli Storage Manager driver.
- Identify media types available with customer's hardware.
- Determine network connectivity and protocols available.
- Configure library, drives, path, and device classes.
- If possible use the new command "define libaction".
- Define device classes for sequential media.
- Define volumes for disk storage pools.
- Define volumes to the storage pools automatically or manually by command.
- Configure appropriate device drivers.
- Given that the environment requirements are met and the Tivoli Storage Manager server is correctly installed, perform the installation or upgrade steps so that the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client is properly installed.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Install or upgrade the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client from the appropriate media (CD, download, or server).
- Determine which client options are appropriate.
- Configure client nodes.
- Server Name

- Communication method

- Identify and create required device classes.
- Define primary storage pools.
- Define copy storage pools.
- Associate storage pools to the next pools in the hierarchy.
- Given a working Tivoli Storage Manager environment and a properly sized system for monitoring, perform tasks to correctly install a monitoring environment.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Examine how many servers to be monitored and choose a proper value of monitoring agents.
- Identify the right server to install Monitoring (not a Tivoli Storage Manager server) and agents.
- Install Tivoli Storage Manager Monitoring and Admin Center on this server by using Administration Guide.
- Configure first agent Instance by using Administration Guide.
- Install additional Monitoring Agents if required.
- Start monitoring and view reports of Tivoli Storage Manager servers.
- Given customer requirements, monitor client performance by using the Client Performance Monitor function of Tivoli Storage Manager using the client performance monitor, view,and analyze performance data for client API backup and restore operations.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Configure Client Monitor Option on Client API.
- Configure Client Monitoring in Administration Center.
- Given a working Tivoli Storage Manager environment, Tivoli Storage Manager client options file and knowledge of the customer's environment and security requirements, configure client and server connections and security-related options so that Tivoli Storage Manager server and client operates in a secure environment.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Configure communication method.
- Configure Administrators who will be performing backup tasks.
- Configure password encryption if required.
- Configure SSL if required.
- Configure the client or the server if behind a proxy server or firewall.
- Configure Tivoli Storage Manager ports that need to be turned on or turned off for proper operation.
- Evaluate the client environment. Allow only admin backup and restores over certain ports.
- Configure where passwords files need to be stored (passworddir).
- Configure the retention policy as related to security.
- Configure how to preserve file dates related to security.
- Configure data shredding if required based on customer requirements.

- Given customer input or specialist knowledge of storage area network (SAN) zoning software and techniques, ensure that correct zoning is in place so that tape and disk traffic are separated
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Open SAN zoning application.
- Check for Tape zoning.
- Check for Disk zoning.
- Ensure that SAN traffic does not allow mixed access.
- Confirm with SAN specialist if available.
- Given a correctly installed Backup-Archive client, implement and configure a schedule so that files are backed up automatically to insure that data is available as needed.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine what needs a scheduled backup, archive, restore, and retrieve.
- Determine the schedule mode required (polling or prompted).
- Define a schedule on the server according to the policy requirements.
- Check if basic or enhanced schedule values are required.
- Associate the client node to the schedule.
- Start the schedule services on the client node.
- Verify backup by checking the schedule log and Web client log as appropriate.
- Given client backup and archive data volume, available storage pool size being used and the amount of Tivoli Storage Manager server time available for maintenance, create administrative schedules so that server maintenance is automated.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Identify media types available with customer's hardware.
- Identify client backup, archive volumes, storage pools, and storage pool sizes
- Determine the client backup window to create Tivoli Storage Manager server maintenance window.
- Create administrative maintenance schedules manually or using the Administration Center wizard.
- Given access to SLAs and knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager, determine retention values, group client nodes based on like values, and create policies, so that policies are defined and client's nodes are associated to policies that meet the SLA requirements.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Determine retention values.
- Determine if collocation is required and plan collocation groups if needed.
- Create policy domains.
- Create management classes.
- Create copy groups.
- Given a functioning Tivoli Storage Manager server and client, and an existing policy domain and policy set, create a management class so that backup and archive copy groups can be added.

- Review recommendations for Tivoli Storage Manager client data.

- Given an existing Tivoli Storage Manager server, SAN or LAN infrastructure, and a supported network data management protocol (NDMP) device, install and configure Tivoli Storage Manager support for the NDMP device so that the device can be backed up and restored.
With emphasis on performing the following tasks:- Configure the location of the network attached storage backups.
- Configure Tivoli Storage Manager policy and storage pools for NDMP operations.
- Schedule the NDMP backups.
- Given an existing Tivoli Storage Manager server with a tape drive or tape library, SAN or LAN infrastructure, a network appliance, and the network appliance is snapshot capable, configure Network Appliance SnapMirror to Tape feature so that a successful backup can be performed.
