Planning (34%) - OS, Application requirements
- Use of tools (e.g. System Planning tool -SPT, performance tools)
- Site preparation (facilities, floor space, energy, cooling, etc)
- Availability levels (multipathing , backup windows, redundancy, etc)
- I/O requirements (CPU, memory, disk, paths to disk, network connections, VIO)
- NFS (including mobility considerations, sizing, redundacy)
- Infrastructure requirements (HMC, networking, etc - but NOT site prep)
Install, configure and manage the system (45%) - Virtualization (LPAR management, DLPAR, , LVM and Storage configuration, VIO Server management, System and Application WPARs, Partition and Application mobility)
- Configure virtual Ethernet, including shared Ethernet Adapter, shared Ethernet adapter failover, and IVE/HEA
- Troubleshooting system and network problems
- Hardware Maintenance (HMC and server firmware updates, diagnostics, problem reporting)
- Software Maintenance (OS tuning, OS and Application deployment, managing interdependencies, 3rd party drivers)
- Add and remove hardware (network cards, fiber adapters, etc.)
- Configure virtual SCSI
Backups and Restores (6%) - Back up and restore HMC, perform VIO Server and client backups, and NIM backup/restore to a VIO server.
Performance Monitoring and management (13%) - Utilize tools (topas, svmon, lvmstat, lparstat, etc.), interpret output and take appropriate action.
