Test C2090-102: IBM Big Data Architect

Courses and publications are offered to help you prepare for the certification tests. The courses are recommended, but not required, before taking a certification test. When preparing for the certification test, keep in mind that real world experience is required to stand a reasonable chance of passing the certification test.  Courseware does not replace the requirement for experience.  Please note that course offerings are continuously being added and updated.  If you want to purchase a training course, feel free to contact an IBM Global Training Provider.

Classroom Course

Course title: InfoSphere BigInsights Foundation

Course duration: 3 Days

Course number: DW613

Abstract: This training course is for those who want a foundation of IBM BigInsights. This course consists of two separate modules. The first module is IBM BigInsights Overview and it will give you an overview of IBM's big data strategy as well as a why it is important to understand and use big data. It will cover IBM BigInsights as a platform for managing and gaining insights from your big data. As such, you will see how the BigInsights have aligned their offerings to better suit your needs with the IBM Open Platform (IOP) along with the three specialized modules with value-add that sits on top of the IOP. Along with that, you will get an introduction to the BigInsights value-add including Big SQL, BigSheets, and Big R. The second module is IBM Open Platform with Apache Hadoop. IBM Open Platform (IOP) with Apache Hadoop is the first premiere collaborative platform to enable Big Data solutions to be developed on the common set of Apache Hadoop technologies. The Open Data Platform initiative (ODP) is a shared industry effort focused on promoting and advancing the state of Apache Hadoop and Big Data technologies for the enterprise. The current ecosystem is challenged and slowed by fragmented and duplicated efforts between different groups. The ODP Core will take the guesswork out of the process and accelerate many use cases by running on a common platform. It allows enterprises to focus on building business driven applications. This module provides an in-depth introduction to the main components of the ODP core --namely Apache Hadoop (inclusive of HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce) and Apache Ambari -- as well as providing a treatment of the main open-source components that are generally made available with the ODP core in a production Hadoop cluster. IBM BigInsights v4 itself is built upon the ODP core and these other main open-source components. The relationships between the IBM Open Platform with Apache Hadoop and the BigInsights add-ons is covered briefly in Unit 1 - pro.

Course title: IBM BigInsights Big SQL

Course duration:

Course number: DW632

Abstract: This course is designed to help students understand and use Big SQL. Students will learn to use different BigInsights components to access Big SQL to access and analyze their Hadoop data Next, the course will cover Big SQL data types where students will learn how to work with the data in Big SQL tables. Students will also learn how to use the EXPLAIN and ANALYZE commands to understand the performance of their queries. The course will then go into Big SQL administration showing students how to grant and revoke authority to control access to their data, including fine grained access control. The course will then cover data federation to allow users to be able to create queries from various data sources. Finally, this course will cover how to use Big SQL 1.0 with HBase tables.

Course title: BigInsights Analytics for Business Analysts

Course duration:

Course number: DW643

Abstract: This course is designed to introduce the student to the capabilities of BigSheets. BigSheets is a component of InfoSphere BigInsights. It provides the analyst the ability to be able to visualize and analyze data stored HDFS using a spreadsheet type interface without any programming.

Course title: BigInsights Analytics for Programmers

Course duration:

Course number: DW653

Abstract: This course is designed to aid programmers who are working with IBM's InfoSphere BigInsights. Writing programs that extract data from unstructured text can be a daunting task. You will learn how to create annotators through the use of IBM's Annotation Query Language (AQL). Analyzing data using Apache's Hadoop normally requires that MapReduce programs be written. You will learn how to use Jaql to create high level programs that are decomposed into Hadoop MapReduce programs. People familiar with the Hadoop technology are aware of other open source products that are used in this environment. This course will give you a foundation to program using the Apache Pig language. There is also overview of ZooKeeper, HBase, and Hive. One of the capabilities of the BigInsights Web Console is the ability to simplify the invocation of Hadoop applications. This course shows how to publish a text analytics application from the BigInsights development environment to a BigInsights server.
