To prepare for Test 992, it is first recommended that you are familiar with the job role description and the parameters this certification is based on, as well as have knowledge of the topics outlined in the test objectives/skills measured on the test. Compare your own technical level to the test objectives and the recommended training resources, and then determine for yourself how much preparation you require. Note that these educational sources are recommended, but not required (*) before taking a certification test.
Before preparing for the certification test, it is recommended that you measure your current level of skill by taking the Assessment Test (located from the Sample/Assessment test link above). After you have completed your test preparation/training, you can assess your improved level of skill and readiness for the certification test, by re-taking the Assessment Test.
You can prepare for Test 992 through the Tutor Approach (classroom, instructor led course, and other sources) or the Self-Study Approach. Sources within each approach collectively cover the skills measured on the test.
To prepare via the Tutor Approach, take courses [WB182 or VB182] OR [(WB184 or VB184 or ZB184) + (WB186 or VB186 or ZB186)] and refer to the sources with an * in front of them. Note that per this formula, depending on which course(s) you choose, you are required to take either 1 or 2 courses.
To prepare via the Self-Study Approach, omit the courses, and refer to all other sources with and without the * in front.
(*) Notes: - The recommended educational resources listed are not intended to be a substitute for, but should complement, relevant practical experience.
- Extensive product knowledge is required to pass the test.
- Every effort has been made to make the recommended educational resources as complete and as accurate as possible, but no warranty of fitness is implied. The resources provided are on an as is basis. IBM shall have neither liability nor responsibility to any person or entity with respect to any loss or damages arising from course or publication content.

Course title:
IBM WebSphere Business Modeler: Process Mapping and Analysis
Course duration: 3.0 days
Course number: WB184
Alternative Option - Instructor-Led Online Course: VB184: IBM WebSphere Business Modeler: Process Mapping and Analysis
Abstract: Please also see alternative option ZB184 (listed under "Online Courses").
This three-day course teaches students how to use Business Process Management (BPM) practices while using the powerful features and capabilities of WebSphere Business Modeler.
To meet the demands of a constantly changing environment, organizations need a clear understanding of how their processes work. WebSphere Business Modeler supports process improvement by capturing a comprehensive view of the way companies do business.
This course focuses on concepts and procedures involved in modifying and customizing business process models based on modeling modes. Students explore Business Process Management scoping and methodology along with project standards, participate in interactive discussion on solution modeling, and build their own models based on a business scenario. It also introduces the use of project versioning, modeling solutions, and Web publishing.
Hands-on lab exercises give students the opportunity to gather requirements, set goals, and create, analyze, report, and update business process models. Students perform lab exercises in modeling using the Swimlane editor, importing from other tools like Microsoft Visio, and reviewing models on Publishing Server.
Note:
For Test 992:
- together with WB186 (or VB186), this course fully covers test objectives 2H, 3E, 3F, 4C, 4H, 5A
- together with WB186 (or VB186) this course partially covers test objectives 1B, 1C, 2A, 2E, 2F, 2G, 2I, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4B, 4D, 4E, 4F, 4G, 4I, 5B, 5D, 6C
