Abstract: Learn to sell the next generation of IBM i, based on the POWER6 processor technology. Explore methods to recognize opportunities related to the need to simplify infrastructure, integrate applications in order to meet business needs and have the highest service levels without disruption of service. Learn how to link the customer opportunity areas to Power based solutions (i, AIX, Linux, Open Source, Windows). Examine positioning of the Power servers with IBM i and competing with non-IBM offerings. Gain an overview of Power System hardware, IBM i operating system, IBM i integrated solutions, Linux, and key software solutions related to WebSphere, Lotus, DB2 and Tivoli. The class includes lectures.
This course is to be used for preparing for the certification IBM Certification Test 973: Power Systems Sales for IBM i Operating System. This course is not a mandatory requirement prior to taking the test. Attending this course does not guarantee that you will pass the test, nor does it replace prior education and experience, nor aim to cover test questions/answers or every aspect of the tested material. All IBM certifications presume a certain amount of "in the field" experience.
