This course is appropriate for customers working in all DB2 environments, that is, z/OS, VM/VSE, iSeries, Linux, UNIX, and Windows. It is also appropriate for customers working in an Informix environment.

This is a basic course anyone needing to write, support, or understand SQL queries. This includes but is not limited to end-users, programmers, application designers, database administrators, and system administrators who do not yet have knowledge of the SQL Data Manipulation Language (DML).

Course title: DB2 9 for LUW Stored Procedures Programming Workshop
Course duration: 2.0 days
Course number: CF710
Abstract:

This is the classroom version of the Instructor Led Online (ILO) course DB2 Stored Procedures Programming Workshop - Instructor Led Online (3L710).

This course provides the database application designer or application programmer with lectures and labs promoting knowledge to recognize when a stored procedure is the correct solution for an application. The course also gives instructions on how to set up the environment to support stored procedures, how to use the DB2 Developer Workbench or Command Window with an editor to create and build stored procedures, how to CALL a stored procedure, how to create a stored procedure using DDL with different tools that interface with DB2, and how to improve the performance of SQL procedures.

CF71 is taught using lectures and machine lab exercises for the LUW environment. Windows, DB2 Developer Workbench, and DB2 9 for Windows are installed on each participant workstation. Participants will utilize the facilities of the DB2 Developer Workbench or Command Window and an editor to create SQL/PL and Java stored procedures. The DB2 Developer Workbench is used in lab to debug SQL/PL procedures.
