Course title: Fast Path to DB2 UDB for Experienced Relational DBAs
Course duration: 2.0 days
Course number: CF281
Abstract:

Learn how to administer an IBM DB2 UDB. Take a fast path to DB2 UDB database administration skills for experienced Database Administrators (DBA) on other relational database management systems, such as Oracle, Informix, Sysbase, and DB2 for OS/390. Gain the skills you need for DB2 UDB Database Administration IBM Certification Tests.

Note: As an alternative to this course, you may be interested in attending:

DB2 UDB Advanced Administration for Experienced Relational DBAs (CF482)

The first two days of CF482 are identical to the content of CF281. CF482 gives you two additional days of experience with advanced topics in DB2 UDB administration.

Use the Graphical User Interface (GUI) Control Center on a Windows operating system in the course lab environment. Since you use the DB2 UDB Control Center GUI that is common across all platforms, your new skills are applicable to all UDB server environments.

Note: This course may be substituted for the following longer versions, intended for individuals with less experience:

DB2 Universal Database Administration Workshop for Linux (CF201) or DB2 Universal Database Administration Workshop for UNIX (CF211) or DB2 Universal Database Administration Workshop for Windows CF231) or DB2 UDB Administration Workshop for Sun Solaris (CF271)

Course title: DB2 UDB for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Version 8 DBA Certification (701) Preparation
Course duration:
Course number:
Abstract: If you know DB2 Universal Database V8.1 and can perform intermediate to advanced level administrative tasks, you may benefit from becoming an IBM Certified Database Administrator. This series of six tutorials is designed to help you prepare for the DB2 UDB V8.1 for Linux, UNIX and Windows Database Administration (Exam 701) certification exam to attain the certification "IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2 UDB V8.1 for Linux, UNIX and Windows." These tutorials provide a solid base for each section of the exam. However, you should not rely on these tutorials as your only preparation for the exam. After a quick registration, you can begin a tutorial. Each tutorial should take about an hour to complete. You can take the tutorials online, or download a PDF or zip file. If you don't already have a background in DB2 database administration, but are interested in learning more, you should instead begin with the DB2 UDB Family Fundamentals Certification (exam 700) Preparation tutorials. The Family Fundamentals tutorial series provides an introduction to SQL (Structured Query Language) and covers how DB2 Universal Database V8.1 is packaged and installed, how to create databases and database objects, and the basics of database security and transaction isolation.
