Course title:
IBM TotalStorage DS6000 Implementation Workshop for Open Systems
Course duration: 3.0 days
Course number: SS481
Abstract: The purpose of the course is to learn the DS6000 storage subsystem and its hardware components and logical structure for Open Systems hosts. You configure hosts and fixed-block Logical Unit Numbers (LUN)s for the DS6000 storage subsystem using a DS6000 Storage Manager Graphical User Interface (GUI), and review the DS Command-Line Interface (DSCLI) interface for scripting configuration functions. Configuration can be handled online or offline, with import and export capabilities for configuration files created in the Simulated mode Storage Manager. This course discusses the DS6800 and its hardware components, and teaches you the process of configuring the DS6000 subsystem using the DS6000 SM GUI or DSCLI interfaces. The DS6000/DS8000 differences are covered in the class, but most of the labs focus on the DS6000 Storage Manager (SM) and DS6000 DSCLI. Also covered are topics on Performance, host attachment and Copy Services.

IBM System Storage DS8000 Implementation for Open Systems
Course duration: 3.0 Days
Course number: SS493
Abstract: Learn about the DS8000 storage subsystem and its hardware components and logical structure for Open Systems hosts. Students will configure hosts and fixed block Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs) for the DS8000 storage subsystem using a DS8000 Storage Manager Graphical User Interface (GUI) and review the DS Command-Line Interface (DSCLI) interface for scripting configuration functions. Configuration can be handled online or offline, with import and export capabilities for configuration files created in the offline configuration simulator. This course will introduce the DS8000 and its hardware components and teach students the process of configuring the subsystem using the DS8000 GUI or DSCLI interfaces. Course Materials The course materials teach you how to install, configure, and manage the DS8000. Certification This course, along with other courses and experience, helps you prepare for IBM Certified Specialist - High End Disk Solutions Version 5 – Test 746 Training Path This course is part of an IBM Training Path. Course title:
Planning and Implementing the IBM TotalStorage DS8000 for zSeries
Course duration: 2.0 days
Course number: SS590
Abstract: Discuss installation and maintenance of the IBM TotalStorage DS8000 in a zSeries environment. Learn about the high level design of the IBM TotalStorage DS8000 series and identify the installation and customization tasks that are necessary to install and exploit the technology. Explore the components of the IBM TotalStorage DS8000, including the 2107 server, the Storage Management Console (SMC), IBM TotalStorage DS8000 Storage Manager (DS Storage Manager) software, and the terminology of the IBM TotalStorage DS8000 including, Disk Drive Modules (DDMs), array site, array, rank, extent pool, and logical volume. Learn how to install, cable, and configure the DS8000 system using the IBM TotalStorage DS Storage Manager Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the IBM TotalStorage DS Command-Line Interface (DS CLI). Complete labs on the DS Storage Manager using the offline simulator mode of the DS Storage Manager. Hands-On Labs Eight labs are included to address accessing configuration information using the DS8000 Information Center, using the DS8000 GUI, and using the DS CLI.
This is an intermediate course for storage administrators, systems programmers, IBM System Engineers (SE), and support groups who install and maintain the DS8000 in the zSeries environment.

Enterprise Storage Server Impl. For Open Systems (DVL)
Course duration: 5.0 days
Course number: S47S0
Abstract: This course can also be purchased as part of the License Pack, Starter Pack, or complete IBM Digital Library. For details, visit http://ibm.com/training/us/dvl It is equivalent to our standard classroom course: IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Implementation for Open Systems (SS470) Learn how to implement the IBM 2105 Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) in the open systems environment. Focus on ESS architecture and using the IBM TotalStorage Expert to configure Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) Logic Unit Numbers (LUN) for use on open platforms attached via Ultra SCSI or Fibre Channel host bus adapters. Learn about attachment considerations for AIX, Sun, HP, NT, NUMA-Q, Windows 2000, and AS/400 platforms. Get a high-level overview of ESS Copy Services functions (Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy (PPRC) and FlashCopy), ESS Web Copy Services, and host Call Level Interfaces (CLI). Participate in hands-on labs where you use ESS Specialist to configure the ESS subsystem and use the TotalStorage Expert to monitor and display ESS performance and capacity reports. IBM instructors demonstrate the lab portion of the course should the classroom version of this course contain labs. Lab files required to perform labs are not available for distribution.
