Course title:
Supporting and Maintaining the DS4000 Series
Course duration: 5.0 Days
Course number: SS680
Abstract: The course is geared toward individuals requiring a rapid training curriculum to cover the necessary knowledge and skill set to properly install, configure, support and maintain DS4000 subsystems. You should already have field exposure with DS4000 storage products and technologies from a post-sales perspective. The Installation and Configuration modules present the technical aspects of the DS4000 storage line, as well as subsystem fundamentals. You will have the opportunity to install and configure storage hardware components and Storage Manager management software. Success in supporting and maintaining optimal subsystems requires the ability to rapidly assess a situation, analyze information and determine a timely solution. The support and maintenance modules will utilize a problem solving approach known as the OODA (Observation, Orientation, Decision, Action) cycle . The support and maintenance modules present the technical aspects of supporting and maintaining DS4000 storage subsystems within a complete data storage solution. You will have the opportunity to practice different procedures related to diagnosing storage subsystems, troubleshooting techniques and maintenance related procedures at a customer site. The modules use a case-study approach, and group problem determination exercises provide participants opportunities to analyze and diagnose several storage subsystem solutions, HBA (Host Bus Adapter) and multipathing drivers and the upgrade process for controller firmware and host software. The lecture will include an in-depth discussion of how to use the tools available in Storage Manager to analyze storage subsystem situations, including an analysis of the support data files. This course is 5 days with approximately 40% lecture and 60% hands-on lab.
