*Note: As of January 5 2009, you are now able to register for Lotus, WebSphere Portal, IBM Workplace and Cognos tests at prometric.com/ibm.

Visit the Prometric Web site to locate an Authorized Prometric Test Center near you, and register for the exam.

Registration.
Before registering for the test, be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name (exactly as you want it to appear on your certification certificate)
  • Candidate / Testing Identification number (If this is your first time to register for a certification exam, a number will be assigned.)
  • Phone number
  • Fax number
  • Mailing address
  • Billing address (if needed)
  • Test number
  • Method of payment
  • Company name
Contact the vendor of your choice and specify the time and location most convenient for you.

Note: If you need to reschedule or cancel a test, you must do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled test time.

Payment and Confirmation.
Payment and confirmation procedures vary by testing vendor. In general, if you pay by credit card, you can immediately schedule your test. If you pay by check, you'll need to wait until it is received and payment is confirmed. If time permits, you will be sent a letter of confirmation with instructions about the test date, time, and location. If you register within 48 hours of the test date, you will not receive a letter.

Arrival and Sign-in.
You should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled test time to sign in. You should bring two forms of identification: one must have a photo and the other must have a signature. Examples include a driver's license (photo) and a credit card (signature).

Take the test.
All IBM certification tests are closed-book, and are administered on a personal computer. Tests generally contain more than 75 questions and take between one and two hours to complete.

Test results.
You will receive a full score report with section analyses at the conclusion of the test. Be sure to keep the score report as documentation of the test completion. When you pass a test, no further action is needed on your part. Your result will automatically be sent to IBM for processing. If you are not successful, you may register to take the test again at a later date. (Note: You may not take a test more than twice in a 30 day period.)

Note: After a test has been taken, your demographic data (including name, address, phone number, etc.) and test results are automatically sent from the testing vendor to IBM for processing within 5 working days.
