First, select the certification you would like to pursue and review the certification description.
You may already be prepared to take the required test(s), based on previous education, experience, or your current job skills. However, to make the most of your expertise, you may want to take advantage of the resources described below.
Test objectives
Test objectives describe the topics covered on the test and can be viewed from both the Test information page, as well as the certification description page for the associated certification.
Sample Tests
Sample Tests simply acquaint you with the format of a test and the type of questions that may be presented. Answer keys are provided. A Sample Test should not be used to determine whether or not you are ready to take a test -- this should be done through an Assessment Test. Sample tests can be viewed from both the Test information page, as well as the certification description page for the associated certification.
Assessment Tests
Assessment tests simulate the actual certification exam, and help you determine whether or not you would benefit from further study prior to sitting for the certification exam. If an assessment test is provided for a particular certification exam, a link to it is provided from the certification description page for which that exam is a requirement.
Note: Like the actual test, an assessment test:
- has the same duration.
- contains questions requiring single and multiple answers. For multiple-answer questions, you need to choose all required options to get the answer correct. You will be advised how many options make up the correct answer.
- provides a Examination Score Report which informs the test taker how he or she did on each section of the test. This feedback correlates back to the test objectives found on this Web site in the test information pages for each test.To maintain the integrity of each assessment test, questions and answers are not distributed.
Recommended training resources
The recommended training resources for a test can be viewed from both the Test information page, as well as the certification description page for the associated certification. The following types of education may be offered for a test:
- IBM and independent training companies may offer courses to help prepare you for certification. For information on course schedules, locations, and prices, please call the training vendor or visit their Internet site.
- Self-study books are available for some certifications. These books help you prepare for certification at your own pace and are typically designed to be used as ongoing reference material.
Other reference materials may also be available to help you prepare for certification. This information may be in the form of IBM reference manuals, product manuals, independently published books, or other materials.
The Training search in the right column of some pages may be used to search IBM Training for learning opportunities (courses, publications, lectures etc.).
