VAE name: System p Server Consolidation
Eligible Products:
- Power servers—All models
- System p—all models
- MES model/processor upgrades
Minimum VAE Solution Requirements:
- Sale, installation, and implementation of an eligible IBM product with at least three of the following services:
- Application sizing, migration, and consolidation
- Data integration and consolidation
- Centralization of systems management functions (that is, security, backup, and recovery)
- Centralization of systems management tools (that is, Tivoli, PSSP on CWS, Cluster Services, and so on)
- Consolidation of external or internal Local Area Networks
- Technical implementation services to set up logical partitioning (LPAR) on a Power server or System p
- Technical implementation services to set up IBM i on a Power server or System p
- Workload balancing and systems design/requirements
- Each server consolidation must result in the consolidation of workload from two or more IBM (servers running AIX, AIX 5L, Linux, Windows, OS/400, i5/OS, IBM i) or non-IBM (UNIX servers or Intel-based servers running Linux or Windows) to one of the following:
- A reduced number of servers with AIX, Linux, or Windows operational on a new
consolidated Power server or System p
- A reduced number of servers supporting an active IBM i partition
(LPAR) on a new consolidated Power server or System p
- Activation of an AIX, IBM i, Linux, or Windows partition (LPAR) on an installed Power server or System p
Minimum Firm Eligibility Requirements:
- Certification requirements at the firm level — minimum two separate certified personnel each with one of the following certifications:
