VAE: For the Geographic Resource VAE, one current product sales certification by
product is required at each approved sales location. One current product technical certification is required
by product for every two sales locations approved. See Note 8
for accepted certifications.

- Lapse in Certification: Notify IBM within 30 days of lapse. The
Business Partner has three months to meet certification requirements to
maintain VAE approval. The Business Partner can continue marketing
during the three months period. If there is a failure to notify IBM or
a failure to comply, the Business Partner can reapply after the
12-month waiting period.
- Prerequisite approval of a Solutions VAE (not including the Managed
Services VAE), for the same machine type/model being sold.
- Billed Value Measurement: Yes, except for system migrations to Power servers,
System i or System p models; except non-processor MES-only sales on
eligible older-technology Power servers, System i, and System p models.
- Face-to-face Meeting: Yes, except for system migrations from AS/400 models 236, 436, and System/3X systems.
- Sales location required: Yes, except when migrating AS/400 Models 236,
436, and S/3X.
- Separate application process for each sales location by product.

| Minimum VAE Solution Requirements: |
- Sale, installation, and implementation of an eligible IBM product
at a customer establishment that is within the geography or marketing
distance of your IBM-approved commercial sales location.
OR
- Sale, installation, and implementation of an eligible IBM product
at a customer establishment that is within the geography or marketing distance of your IBM-approved commercial sales location where the
Business Partner migrates one or more programs or applications from
an older-technology IBM system that is in productive use to a
current-technology IBM system or MES model/processor upgrade
- For AS/400 models 5XX and older, the applications are to be migrated to the new system.
- For System i models 6XX and newer, the applications can be transferred to the new system.
- Any older-technology system can be upgraded to or replaced by any current-technology System i or System p system. The Business Partner is to be approved and certified for both product lines.
- The customer establishment of the current-technology IBM system being installed in a system
migration can be within the same approved geography or within the mileage distance of the approved sales location for the customer
establishment of the old-technology IBM system.
- Perform pre-procurement marketing activities, such as analyzing customer requirements, mapping to IBM solutions, and recommending appropriate alternatives.
- Proposal to the customer must include the new system configuration in detail: A complete listing of the hardware, software, and services to be provided.

- Current IBM product sales and technical
certification requirements for the product. Sales specialist must
be located at the sales location. Technical can support up to two sales
locations and be located anywhere within the firm. If same person for
sales and technical at a sales location, then the technical specialist
cannot support any other sales location.
