This page features all IBM System i, IBM System p, IBM Storage and IBM System z recertification requirements and deadlines that must be met in order to maintain firm authorization to sell the products listed below.


IBM System i recertification program

As a result of the IBM Power Systems April 2008 product announcements, new and existing Business Partners approved to market IBM System i must meet the applicable POWER6 recertification requirements by August 31, 2009 as outlined below.

IBM System i recertification requirements:

Business Partner firms will need to achieve and report to IBM a minimum of one Sales certification and a minimum of one Technical certification from the list outlined below no later than August 31, 2009, to maintain their IBM approval to market Power Systems and System i products.

Required System i Sales Certification

IBM Certified Specialist - Power Systems Sales for IBM i operating system (Test 973)

Note: As a result of the new Power System i operating system sales certification, the following certification has been withdrawn effective immediately

IBM Certified Specialist – iSeries Solution Sales i5 and i5/OS V5R3 (Test 859)

Required System i Technical Certification

IBM Certified Specialist - Power Systems Technical for IBM i operating system (Test 974)

Note: As a result of the new Power Systems i operating system Technical certification, the following certifications will be withdrawn concurrently with the publication of Test 974

IBM Certified Specialist - System i Technical Solutions - Design (including i5/OS V5R4)) (Test 868)

IBM Certified Specialist - System i Technical Solutions – Implementation (including i5/OS V5R4)) (Test 869)

Note: For Business Partners authorized to market only the System i Low End products, Mastery Tests will no longer be accepted towards meeting the Mastery Test/Certification Sales and Technical requirements. Business Partners marketing only the System i Low End products will need to meet the new Sales and Technical recertification requirements by August 31, 2009.


System p Recertification requirements:

Business Partner firms will need to achieve and report to IBM a minimum of one Sales certification and a minimum of one Technical certification from the list outlined below to maintain their IBM approval to market Power Systems and System p products.

For Business Partners authorized to market only the System p Low End products, Mastery Tests will no longer be accepted towards meeting the Mastery Test/Certification Sales and Technical requirements. Business Partners marketing only the System p Low End products will need to meet the new Sales and Technical recertification requirements by August 31, 2009.


Required System p Sales Certification

IBM Certified Specialist - Power Systems Sales for AIX and Linux (Test 331)

Note: As a result of the new Power Systems AIX and Linux sales test, the following certification has been withdrawn effective immediately IBM eServer Certified Specialist - IBM System p Solution Sales V5.3 (Test 229)


Required System p Technical Certification

IBM Certified Specialist - Power Systems Technical Support for AIX and Linux (Test 330)

Note: As a result of the new Power Systems AIX and Linux Technical certification, the following certification will be withdrawn concurrently with the publication of Test 330

IBM Certified Specialist -- System p Technical Sales Support (Test 228)
