certification was obtained for release 6/6.5 can take continue to take advantage of the upgrade paths for both
Application Development and System Administration
6/6.5 to 7 in order to save time and money. Detailed information

Though there is an option to take the three core exams to obtain certification in release 8.5; it makes more sense to take the update tests to 7, then to 8 and then to 8.5. There are still three tests involved, but instead of achieving one professional level certification, you will achieve three:
one in each release.
