Intermediate Level Certification

System Administrator - WebSphere Message Broker V6.1

IBM is pleased to announce the addition of the following job-role certification and applicable test to the Professional Certification Program from IBM (www.ibm.com/certify). This certification is available worldwide today, July 28, 2008. By achieving this certification, intermediate level integration solution developers have validated their knowledge and skills, and can demonstrate their technical competence to others.

IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Message Broker V6.1
Test 314, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, V6.1, System Administration
Test 994, IBM WebSphere MQ V6, System Administration

This intermediate level certification is intended for individuals with extensive product knowledge who performs the following tasks

  • Plans for the use of WebSphere Message Broker including implementation of new features/functions
  • Installs, secures and configures WebSphere Message Broker
  • Administers, maintains and deploys WebSphere Message Broker domains
  • Plans for the coexistence and migration from earlier versions/releases to WebSphere Message Broker 6.1
  • Performs basic problem determination tasks


The target audiences for this certification are consultants, technical specialists and architects.

To attain the certification credential, candidates must pass Test 314 + Test 994.
Test 314 is designed to measure skills in the areas of:
1. Planning, Installation and Migration 15%
2. Configuration 36%
3. Deployment, Administration and Operations 32%
4. Problem Determination 17%
Test 994 is designed to measure skills in the areas of:
1. Planning 15%
2. Installation and Configuration 24%
3. Distributed Queuing and Clustered Queue Management 24%
4. Operation 13%
5. Problem Determination 13%
6. Security 13%

Practical experience and in-depth product knowledge are required to ensure success on the test.

To help candidates prepare, the following information is provided, and accessible via the IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Message Broker V6.1 web page:

  • job role description/target audience to which the test is built
  • test objectives or detailed skills measured on the test
  • test preparation / training resources used to prepare based on the test objectives
  • assessment test to gauge ones readiness for the actual test

Test 314 is available via test delivery vendor Link to content outside of ibm.comPrometric.

Test 314 is also available to IBM employees at a reduced rate via the IBM SWG Prime Test Centers, and IBMers can obtain test registration information via certify@us.ibm.com.

Test 314 is a 105 minute test. The test fee is set to the economy of a country as $150 USD in developed countries and $75 USD in emerging market countries. The test delivery vendor can verify the specific test fee within each country.

Test 314 is a transition from the following certification and applicable test 998, which is being withdrawn December 31, 2008:
