IBM Certified SOA Solution Designer [2007]

IBM is pleased to announce the addition of the following job-role
certification and applicable test to the Professional Certification
Program from IBM (www.ibm.com/certify). This certification is available
worldwide today, November 7, 2007. By achieving this certification,
SOA solution designers, consultants, and architects have validated
their knowledge and skills, and can demonstrate their technical
competence to others.
IBM Certified SOA Solution Designer [2007]
Test 667, Architectural Design of SOA Solutions [November 2007]
This intermediate level certification is intended for solution
designers, or consultants and architects with previous experience
designing SOA application components and business integration
solutions. They are part of project teams responsible for designing SOA
solutions.
This certification validates the candidate's ability to assess and
translate client requirements for business process flexibility and
agility into a service-focused software solution, using Service
Oriented Architecture principles.
Under the direction of the SOA Solution Architect, this SOA Solution Designer:
- Articulates the value of SOA solution in the context of the business strategy
- Validates customer business requirements, identifying and documenting current processes and infrastructure related to the business requirements
- Assesses the client's readiness for SOA organizationally and technically
- Defines an appropriate roadmap for SOA adoption and governance
- Determines services and tasks based on the business process model
- Establishes service definitions that satisfy both functional and non-functional requirements
- Designs the service integration environment and incorporates IBM SOA Foundation and Reference Architectures
- Articulates architectural/design decisions
- Applies existing best practices and technology standards for SOA and services design in the solution implementation
- Provides guidance and review for SOA implementation, deployment and management
This SOA Solution Designer is generally self-sufficient and is able to
perform most of the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance
from peers, product documentation and vendor support services.
To attain the certification credential, candidates must pass Test 667.
Test 667 is designed to measure skills in the areas of:

| 4. SOA Realization | 22% |
| 5. SOA Deployment and Management | 15% |
Practical experience and in-depth product knowledge are required to
ensure success on the test. To help candidates prepare, the following
information is provided, and accessible via the IBM Certified SOA Solution Designer [2007] web page:
- job role description/target audience to which the test is built
- test objectives or detailed skills measured on the test
- test preparation / training resources used to prepare based on the test objectives
- assessment test to gauge ones readiness for the actual test
Test 667 is available via test delivery vendor Thomson Prometric (APTC).
Test 667 is also available to IBM employees at a reduced
rate via the internal IBM SWG Prime Test Centers.
Test 667 is a 2.5 hour (150 minute) test. The test fee is set to the
economy of a country as $150 USD in developed countries and $75 USD in
emerging market countries. The test delivery vendor can verify the
specific test fee within each country.
