Intermediate Level Certification:
IBM WebSphere Process Server V6.0

IBM is pleased to announce the addition of the following job-role certification and applicable test to the Professional Certification Program from IBM (www.ibm.com/certify). This certification is available worldwide on April 21, 2006. By achieving this certification, system administrators can validate their knowledge and skills and demonstrate their technical competence to others.

Test 252, WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.0, Core Administration
Test 093, IBM WebSphere Process Server V6.0, System Administration

This intermediate level system administrator performs the installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the WebSphere Process Server runtime environment. This includes product installation, configuration and deployment of business processes and adapters, connecting to back-end resources and basic troubleshooting. The administrator tunes the WebSphere Process Server runtime environment with respect to resource utilization, scaling, and load balancing as appropriate.

To attain the certification credential, candidates must pass Test 252 and Test 093.

Test 252 is designed to measure skills in the areas of:

  1. Architecture (11%)
  2. Installation/Configuration of Application Server (13%)
  3. Application Assembly and Deployment and Server Resource Configuration (11%)
  4. Security (11%)
  5. Workload Management/Scalability/Failover
  6. (13%)
  7. Maintenance and Performance Tuning (19%)
  8. Problem Determination Applications (15%)
  9. Systems Administration Tasks (*covers one time administrative tasks) (7%)

Test 093 is designed to measure skills in the areas of:

  1. Architecture (14%)
  2. Installation/Configuration of Process Server (26%)
  3. Application Deployment and Server Resource Configuration (16%)
  4. Security (12%)
  5. Maintenance and Performance Tuning (10%)
  6. Problem Determination Applications (22%)
    Note: The percentage of each area reflects its actual weighting on the test.

Practical experience and in-depth product knowledge are required to ensure success on the test. To help candidates prepare, the following information is provided, and accessible via the IBM Certified Deployment Professional - WebSphere Process Server V6.0 Web page.

Test 252 is already available via test delivery vendors Prometric Thomson (APTC) and Pearson VUE. Test 093 will be available on April 21, 2006. To register for a test, refer to the IBM Certified Deployment Professional - WebSphere Process Server V6.0 Web page, and contact the test delivery vendor. Both tests are also available to IBM employees at a reduced rate via the IBM SWG Prime Test Centers, and IBMers can obtain Prime test registration information via Link to an email addresscertify@us.ibm.com.

Test 252 is a 90 minute test. Test 093 is a 75 minute test. The test fees are set to the economy of a country as outlined on the WebSphere Certification Test Fees Web page. The test delivery vendor can verify the specific test fee within your country.
