An IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 is a technical professional responsible for the architecture and planning, Management Server configuration, Hypervisor configuration, product integration, managing TSAM, customization and  problem determination of the IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 solution. It is expected that this person will be able to perform these tasks with limited assistance from peers, product documentation, and support resources. 

To attain the IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 certification, candidates must pass 2 tests:

000-017 Foundations of Tivoli Process Automation Engine

Key areas of competency:

Describe the IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 architecture and components.  

Design IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 solution based on customer environment and requirements. 

Map customer's IT infrastructure to the Data Center Model.

Configure IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 software and integrated products. 

Configure the Data Center Model using the Web and/or command line interface (CLI). 

Work with provisioning workflows. 

Perform IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1 administration tasks.

Integrate with elemental technologies/products. 

Perform performance tuning and problem determination for IBM Tivoli Service Automation Manager V7.2.1.


Recommended Prerequisite Skills


Required Prerequisite Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Tivoli Process Automation Engine, IBM Tivoli Service Request Manager, IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager and IBM Tivoli Monitoring. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of Cygwin. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of XML. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of operating system deployment and administration in Windows, AIX, and Linux. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of network technology and administration (switches, routers, firewalls). Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of relational databases. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of LDAP. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of shell scripting. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of unattended installation methods for software products. Skill Level 2
  • Knowledge of configuration management concepts. Skill Level 2
