Apply basic design concepts for an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager solution to a customer-s environment. 4. Install IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server and backup-archive clients. 5. Install Tivoli Integrated Solution Console and Tivoli Storage Manager Administration Center. 6. Customize the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager database and recovery log. 7. Configure local storage devices. 8. Define storage pools and add storage pool volumes. 9. Define policy and schedules for client data backup 10. Perform initial performance tuning and problem determination to resolution. 11. Configure IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, including selecting the appropriate IBM Tivoli Storage Manager products. 12. Schedule server maintenance including database and storage pool backups. 13. Set up and configure Disaster Recovery Management.
Prerequisite Skills The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V5.4 exam applies to heterogeneous environments. TSM competency is primarily platform independent. Candidates MUST have background experience sufficient to prepare for training and testing on storage solutions. The following qualifications are requirements for success: 1. Advanced backup methodologies (full, incremental, differential, image, progressive, on-site, off-site, etc.). 2. Basic operating systems concepts, primarily Windows and UNIX. 3. Basic networking concepts (LAN, WAN, SAN). 4. Basic storage device knowledge (optical, disk, tape, NAS, etc.). 5. Basic hardware knowledge (server, CPU, memory, etc.).
