IBM Certified Specialist - Midrange Storage Technical Support V2

The Midrange Storage Technical Specialist V2 consults with customers to analyze the customer's needs, select products, and plan the implementation of storage products.  This specialist also has a broad knowledge of the features, functions and benefits of IBM storage solutions and the IBM storage portfolio including disk, tape, storage management software, NAS SAN and virtualization, as well as understanding of competitive offerings used in the midrange segment.  This knowledge includes both current and commonly occurring products typically encountered.  This specialist also requires general knowledge of IBM storage hardware and software products used outside the midrange product set.  

Miidrange Storage Products included in this exam are IBM System Storage DS5000, IBM Storwize V7000, IBM System Storage TS7610 ProtecTIER Deduplication Appliance Express, IBM System Storage N series, IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller, IBM LTO-5 and Midrange tape products, IBM Scale Out Network Attached Storage (SONAS), and IBM midrange SAN products

This specialist can perform the following tasks without assistance:  Determine product positioning, gather customer requirements, identify and engage correct resources, identify competitors, TCO analysis, present the IBM storage product line to the customer, articulate features and benefits of IBM storage products and maintenance, run eConfig to create a valid configuration, develop basic technology topologies and architectural designs, present the configuration to the customer, conduct a TDA for midrange storage.

This specialist can perform the following tasks with assistance:  Respond to an RFP within the midrange storage scope, mitigate competitors, provide post-installation support, conduct a TDA for IBM products outside the midrange product set.  

This specialist uses the following tools and resources:  eConfig, Competeline, COMP database, Techline, PartnerLine, TCOnow!, PartnerWorld web site, sizing tools like Disk Magic.  

Minimum 12 months of direct pre-sales technical storage experience with midrange customers
