Job Role Description / Target Audience
This storage consultant works independently with the customer to configure and implement XIV synchronous and/or asynchronous replication. This consultant also works with the customer to configure and perform XIV data migration tasks from various hosts and open systems storage environments.
This consultant can perform the following tasks without assistance: Integrate and deploy a host with an XIV system; migrate data for a host integrated with an XIV system; design a replicated XIV system environment to meet customer requirements; implement a replicated XIV system environment; provide advanced technical support of the XIV system; develop general migration strategies; collect performance data.
This consultant can perform the following tasks with assistance: Develop detailed migration plans; integrate with other storage software products; determine initial bandwidth requirements to support a replicated XIV system environment; analyze performance data; perform troubleshooting.
Recommended Prerequisite Skills
- Earn IBM Certified Specialist - XIV Storage System Technical Solutions Version 1 or 2, or have equivalent experience and product knowledge
- Have fundamental knowledge and experience in SAN deployment (e.g., zoning)
- Understand host-based multi-pathing concepts (e.g., SDD)
- Have experience in disk array-based replication (e.g., Global Mirror/Metro Mirror)
- Have experience in data migration generally, and XIV data migration specifically
- Capable of working independently and effectively in complex environments
