The Certified Specialist can work with an XIV sales representative to support the XIV sale. The Certified Specialist should have product knowledge of the more technical aspects of hardware and software. This specialist uses technologies and tools in the open systems environment to support sales and implementation of IBM XIV storage. The Certified Specialist can size, design, architect, and configure to meet customer requirements and articulate the advantages of XIV solutions. The Certified Specialist can implement and support a complex solution, including advanced copy functions and customer support.
This specialist can perform the following without assistance: Provide technical sales assistance in an XIV sale; work with the customer to implement the XIV system; work effectively in heterogeneous operating system environments; perform advanced copy functions
This specialist can perform the following with assistance: Advanced technical support of the XIV system; develop migration plans; integrate with other storage software products
This specialist is not expected to perform: Physical installation; break-fix; ongoing maintenance

- Two to three years experience in disk operations in an open systems environment
- Implement a high-end disk storage solution in an open systems environment
- Three to five years experience in a related Information Technology technical support role
- Capability to work independently and effectively in complex environments
