This certification candidate can perform basic rack-and-stack cabling, firmware upgrades, detailed configuration, storage partitioning setup, copy services, replication services, device intermix, problem determination, performance monitoring and data migration without assistance.

With assistance, certification candidates should be to use serial shell, Rlogin, performance tuning, and in-depth problem determination.
Within a DAS, SAN and NAS environment, candidates should be comfortable using the following tools:
- DS3000, DS4000, and DS5000 Storage Manager, storage simulator, interoperability matrix, SupportLine
- Tech Express, RTS, bandwidth estimator, storage calculator Exchange Estimator, Storage Sizing for Oracle, and Disk Magic.
