Job Role Description / Target Audience

The IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Sales for High-End Tape Version 1 sells and supports specific IBM High-End tape products and focuses on selling only IBM Enterprise tape products and technologies  The test covers about 50 percent core storage and solutions skills and 50 percent deep knowledge of the product area. 

The typical candidate falls under one of three categories: 
  • Business Partners that sell storage products that need to pass this test to complete authorization requirements or elect to take it to prove their expertise. 
  • IBM Storage Sales that sells high-end storage products and wants a credential to show proficiency in the area. 
  • Ibm.com Sales Reps may also be motivated to take the test to validate personal achievement. 


Recommended Prerequisite Skills

  • Two years experience in high-end tape products
  • Without assistance, this person can identify high-end tape storage opportunities, understand requirements, and can identify and find resources to meet those requirements.
  • With appropriate resources available, this person can fully implement high-end tape sales, end-to-end
  • Capability to work independently and effectively in complex environments
  • Comfortable and conversant in high-end tape environments with awareness levels of BatchMagic and TapeMagic
  • The candidate is not expected to have advanced technical skills
