The IBM Certified Specialist - System z Technical Support V2 evaluates the IT infrastructure and understands the customer's business environment in order to ensure the design and implementation of appropriate System z solutions. This individual performs requirements analysis, systems architecture/design, and planning/installation. Additionally, he or she provides ongoing support to ensure the customer is operational and that technical requirements are continually addressed.
This System z technical specialist has an in-depth understanding of the System z architecture necessary to design and implement System z solutions for customers. This individual knows the hardware components and functions and how these differentiate the System z platform. This specialist has an understanding of the capabilities and benefits associated with different software and operating systems. This professional is knowledgeable in key concepts relevant to System z such as reliability, availability, scalability, security and systems management.
The target audience for this certification includes IBM Business Partners and IBM employees who provide technical sales support for IBM System z solutions. The certification is open to anyone who feels they have the capabilities required. However, it is especially appropriate for individuals working in customer-related System z technical sales roles, such as IBM employees working in Field Technical Sales Support and for TechLine.

The years of experience needed to prepare for the certification will vary depending on the nature of one's professional background and work assignments.
