The IBM Certified Specialist in AMS has a focus on improving manufacturing operational performance. This certified specialist applies the science of manufacturing disciplines to enable improved business value by advancing continuous improvement in a high performing culture. These specialists are change advocates of innovation and leadership management in manufacturing environments, and ultimately influence business decisions for superior business results.
To attain the IBM Certified Specialist - Advanced Manufacturing Science certification, candidates must pass 1 test (Test # 535).

The following is recommended before taking Test 535:
- Basic Facilitation Skills (Course 100763XS (North America), 100763BX (Dublin))
- Facilitation: Facilitating Challenging Situations (Course WN41136)
- Facilitation: The Effective Facilitator (WN41134)
- Facilitation: The Facilitation Process (WN41135)
- Team Facilitation & Decision Making English (EDUK0006)
- Receive patent award(s)
- Publish and present white papers / articles, internally and /or externally

The following will be required before the candidate is allowed to take Test 535:
- AMS Core Team Training (Course Number: MF010G) or equivalent
- Path Forward to Advanced Manufacturing Web Lecture series (Courses LTU 7728F, LTU 7746F, LTU 7766F, LTU 7729F, LTU 7844F, LTU 8130F, LTU 7842F, LTU 8088F, LTU 8089F, LTU 9425F)
- Basic probability and statistics skills (Course Number: OPER0192)
- Six months experience applying AMS methods
- Knowledge of candidate's organization: vision / mission / strategy
